Real-Time Horror, Real-Time Collaboration – Ire: A Prologue with ProbablyMonsters
Watch The Launch Trailer Here M2 Animation collaborated with ProbablyMonsters on Ire: A Prologue, a first-person narrative horror game that channels the atmospheric dread of 1980s cinema.
This project was not a hand-off—it was a deeply embedded, real-time production partnership. Our cinematic pipeline was fully integrated with the game’s development cycle, allowing us to work with live assets, adapt to evolving gameplay, and maintain alignment from start to finish. The result was a cohesive narrative and visual language across gameplay and cinematics.
We produced three cinematic sequences that enriched the player experience, using a range of creative and technical approaches:
Real-Time Asset Integration By working directly with in-game assets from the development pipeline, we ensured our sequences remained fully in sync with the gameplay and story direction.
Custom Content Creation We created original motion capture–based animation, staging, and pacing tailored to each cinematic sequence to deliver immersive storytelling moments.
FX Development in Unreal and Houdini From a hypnotic shoreline to a monstrous antagonist, our FX team pushed technical and creative limits to deliver striking, tension-filled visuals.
Cinematic Lighting Design Our lighting approach was designed to reinforce emotional beats while mirroring the game’s visual tone—grounded in darkness, unease, and cinematic precision.
This collaboration is a powerful example of what happens when storytelling and technology evolve side by side—and when creative teams are aligned from day one.
BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO GAME WORLDS: OUR FIRST SHORT FOR WHITEOUT SURVIVAL
Watch The Film Here We’re excited to share the launch of our new animated short created for Century Games, set in the chilly world of their hit game, Whiteout Survival. This marks the first in what will be an ongoing creative collaboration — and it’s been a truly rewarding experience from pitch to final frame. From day one, our team at M2 Animation was inspired by the storytelling potential within the Whiteout Survival storyworld and it’s characters. We pitched the concept, developed the narrative arc, and handled the full production pipeline — delivering an animated short designed to work in both landscape and portrait formats that expands the game’s universe while staying true to the core themes of the IP. This project gave us the chance to collaborate with Century Games and explore the blending of animated storytelling with game IP, creating something that feels both fresh and authentic to fans. It’s a space we’re passionate about growing in — where gameplay meets narrative, and where our teams’ animation expertise helps unlock new dimensions of a game’s world. We’re already looking ahead to future chapters in this storyworld and to new collaborations with developers and publishers who want to expand their IP through high-quality animation. There’s so much potential in this kind of storytelling — and we’re just getting started!
